Description

Two Constellation passenger aircraft are parked on the tarmac in the 1946 Constellation Lockheed wall mural. Post WWII, the Lockheed Constellation airplane became well-known as the first passenger aircraft to have a pressurized cabin, making it a safer travel option for civilians and ushering in a new era of air travel. These two Constellation planes feature the emblem of the Transcontinental and Western Airlines, TWA, which in 1946 completed its first transatlantic passenger flight. Painted by artist Larry Grossman, this mural captures an important turning point in the history of air travel.
