Description

Gondoliers, in traditional dress, take tourists through the waterways of Venice. Prominent in the mural is the "Dogana da Mar" (sea customs-house) on top of which are two kneeling "Atlases" supporting a golden ball, which in turn is topped by the "Statue of Fortune." Blue sky and blue water give the painting a softness while the grand architecture of the building add additional interest.
